Van der Laan International Consultancy BV or V.I.C. is a Dutch consultancy firm.
V.I.C. was founded in April 2021 by Henk van der Laan, a senior metallurgist and business consultant. Henk has worked 42 years in the aluminium industry of which 34 years at KBM Affilips BV as an international sales manager for aluminium based master alloys and specialty alloys. The last 12 years he has been involved in a search for Scandium, a transition metal with unique properties.
V.I.C is specialised in strategic management, marketing and procurement of raw materials in the metal and mining industry. V.I.C is currently supporting a Dutch aluminium alloy manufacturer. The company is producing special aluminium alloys based on rapid solidification for High-Tech markets like Semicon, Precision Equipment, Defence and Aerospace.
V.I.C. is a partner of ERMA, the European Raw Materials Alliance and a member of IMA, the International Magnesium Association. V.I.C is also a member of EIT Raw Materials, the European funding organization for innovative raw material projects.
Furthermore V.I.C is an associated partner in the ScaVanger project, responsible for the business model and market analysis. ScaVanger is developing a sustainable and reliable supply chain for Scandium in Europe.

Henk van der Laan is a senior business consultant and founder of Van der Laan International Consultancy BV (V.I.C.). Henk was born in 1954 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
Henk has worked 43 years in the aluminium industry of which 34 years at KBM Affilips BV as an international sales manager for aluminium based master alloys. The last 10 years he has been active as a procurement manager for Scandium compounds. In his search for Scandium, he has identified 57 prospective Scandium suppliers.
Henk has studied Metallurgy in Utrecht and Business Economics in Rotterdam and Industrial Marketing in Arnhem, all in The Netherlands. As a metallurgist he is specialised in the grain refining mechanisme of Aluminium Titanium Boron, which is the main product of KBM Master alloys BV. As an international sales manager Henk has been active in North- and South America, Europe, Middle-East and Austral-Asia. Henk has a 30 years experience in selling master alloys to Japan.
